Let’s get away from the same old boring meetings — and replace them with the glorious walk and talk!

Have you considered this incredible format for meetings?

Many of our medical practices are implementing the walking meeting, especially for one-on-one meetings or small group meetings (4 people or less).

Walking MeetingsHere’s why we love walking meetings:

  • There’s privacy in a walk. People feel more comfortable opening up.
  • It’s nicer than getting hauled into the office!
  • It’s a positive format to deliver feedback, good or bad.
  • It supports a positive office culture.
  • Because we spend too much time on screens — and crave human interaction.
  • It clears fatigue and fog to restore vitality.
  • Being outside can stimulate creativity and inspire new ideas.
  • This more relaxed setting can break down barriers and give you better results in less time.

How can you make walking meetings part of your office culture?

  1. Introduce the concept so it’s not scary. Tell your team: We are trying something new. We are going to start doing walking meetings! It’s a great way to communicate and a nice fresh-air break.
  2. Make it routine. Implement one per employee per quarter.
  3. And make it spur of the moment. “Hey, let’s go for a walk!” can become a normal part of your office culture.
  4. Have a purpose and structure. Today, I want to talk to you about this and this.
  5. Define the destination. We are going to walk to the park and back!

If you’re going to spend time having a meeting — do it where it will be most efficient … on a walk!
