There was probably a time when you felt more invigorated or energized by your practice than you do now. When managing an office, it’s easy to fall into a routine, especially when you have a system that works (good job)!
Running a practice is hard, to say the least, especially as your number of patients and team members grows. You may feel pulled in every direction or like you are just going through the motions every day. It’s time to get your mojo back and reconnect with your practice!
Here are 5 ways to get reinvested and reconnect with your practice:
- Look at your lobby with fresh eyes. Walk in from the front, not the back. Look up, down and around. Does the signage need an upgrade? Do the magazines need a refresh? Are you using tape instead of sign holders? It feels just as good to organize your lobby as it does to clean out a closet at home. Out with the old, in with the new!
- Change your space. Block out time to do a desk clean-up, rearrange the furniture and get new file folders or a sparkly stapler. Anything that brings you joy!
- Write a thank you note to a team member. A little act of kindness and some personal handwriting goes a long way with your team. Making someone’s day helps make your day better!
- Write a list of things in your practice that you are grateful for. Keep that list close. When you’re having a tough day, look at your list. Gratitude changes everything.
- Write a list of things you are NOT going to do. When making a change, it can sometimes be easier to focus on what you no longer are going to do. For example, you can write: I’m not going to let [insert thing] change my commitment to serving this practice and my team.
Even if it’s only for a few minutes next week, pledge to invest in your relationship with your team, your commitment to your job and reconnect with your practice. We promise you won’t regret it.
